How to create a privilege key on TeamSpeak 3 and 6

A privilege key (also called a token) is a single-use code that puts whoever uses it into a server group. It is the simplest way to give a bot, or a new admin, the right permissions without sharing anyone's password.

On TeamSpeak 3

  1. Join your TS with a user that is already an administrator.
  2. Open the Permissions → Privilege Keys menu.
  3. Click Add, choose the Server Group type and the administrator group (usually Server Admin).
  4. Confirm and copy the generated key, a long string of letters and numbers.

A brand-new server with no admin yet? The first time TeamSpeak 3 starts, it shows a Server Admin key (the “token”) and writes it to the log. Many hosts show that token in their own panel.

On TeamSpeak 6

On TeamSpeak 6 the idea is the same: with an administrator user, look for Privilege keys in the server administration options, create a key for the administrator group and copy it. If your host shows an admin token in its panel, that works too.

If TS 6 refuses the bot for being a guest without a group, give the Guest group permission to join the default channel (or leave a default channel open) and try again.

Using the key in TXBot

In the TXBot panel, under Connection, enter your TS address and paste the key. The bot joins, uses the key once, creates its own TXBot group (with an icon) and leaves the administrator group. The key is not reused and is stored encrypted in our database.

Your TS cannot generate a key? No problem: leave the field empty, the bot joins as a guest and, once you give it the highest group straight from TeamSpeak, it sets itself up. The bot never asks for the ServerQuery or administrator password.

Try TXBot free for 3 days: no card needed, and the bot joins your TeamSpeak in a few minutes.
